About Chip

Chip Griffin is the CEO and founder of Eaglon, a media production company that produces Media Bullseye, and Chairman and co-founder of CustomScoop, a media intelligence service, both headquartered in Concord, NH. He has been active in the world of media and communications for the better part of two decades, and he frequently speaks, writes, and advises on these topics.

He also hosts "Conversations with Chip Griffin," an online radio and TV show featuring thoughtful dialogue about timely topics with leading voices in all aspects of society, including authors, politicians, entrepreneurs, chefs, educators, and more. In addition, he provides commentary on a variety of issues through essays, blog posts, and videos at ChipGriffin.com.

Chip got his start in the fast-paced world of Washington, DC politics, working full-time for a member of Congress during most of his time as an undergraduate at American University. After graduation, he joined The Heritage Foundation where he authored numerous papers, op-eds, and book chapters. He would go on to become the lead investigator for a congressional subcommittee squarely in the media spotlight.

At the age of 23, Chip was named CEO of Townhall.com. He helped lead a turnaround of that portal and repositioned it as a leading provider of news and commentary. This began his journey of entrepreneurship in media and communications.

Returning to his native New Hampshire in 1999, Chip launched his first company, Griffin Strategy Group, specializing in providing online communications advice to public affairs and media organizations.

To keep in touch with his Washington network, Chip began writing PrimaryScoop, a daily newsletter focused on the presidential primaries. The overwhelmingly positive response to this effort would lead to the creation of the CustomScoop online news clipping product that continues to provide timely news and information to clients across many industry sectors.  Today, CustomScoop has become one of the leading media intelligence companies, offering clients a range of automated monitoring and professional analysis services.

In 2007, Chip published The New Media Cocktail, an e-book exploring the future of media. In it, he outlines a vision of mixed media focused on niche markets.

In addition to his entrepreneurial efforts, Chip actively gives back to American University where he got his start. He serves on the Advisory Council of the School of Public Affairs where he has endowed a scholarship program.

A prolific writer and speaker, Chip continues to write frequently at ChipGriffin.com as well as for various other media outlets. Over the years, his writing has appeared in leading publications including the Washington Post, Washington Times, New York Times, and Miami Herald. He has been a frequent guest on talk radio and podcasts, and hosts several online radio shows. In addition, he often speaks to organizations about maximizing their engagement in new media efforts.

Chip lives in New Hampshire with his wife and two sons.
